Buur Hakaba District, NRO remains committed to delivering lifesaving humanitarian services to vulnerable children and Pregnant & Lactating Women (PLWs) living in hard-to-reach and partially accessible rural villages outside Buurhakaba town.
The worsening humanitarian situation is being driven by prolonged drought conditions, severe food insecurity caused by crop failure, livestock losses, and deepening socioeconomic challenges affecting already vulnerable communities. In several areas, the rejection of Somali Shillings has further limited families’ purchasing power and access to essential commodities, although the issue has recently been resolved in some locations.
Urgent donor engagement and flexible resource mobilization are critically needed to restore nutrition supplies, strengthen integrated emergency response services, and prevent further deterioration toward famine conditions in rural Buur Hakaba.
NRO calls upon humanitarian donors, partners, and stakeholders to urgently support sustained nutrition and resilience interventions for drought-affected communities most at risk.
